I've Got Two Pennies For You

I know you've all been waiting for it. I saw Batman Begins. I'm still semi-depressed that I waited two days after it came out to actually see it, but it was to trek it to the IMAX theatre... and can I just say, it was worth the thirty minute drive, the awfully long wait in line, AND the climbing over fat people. We sat RIGHT in the center of the theatre and oh my god it was HUGE, it was overwhelming, you could feel the bass rock you in your seats. It was incredible. Christian Bale rocked it, as I knew he would. Is there anything the man can't do? NO. There isn't.

The movie itself? Absolutely fantastic. The directing choices were dead-on, the story focused on character development, and the realism gave it that dark and cynical edge that they had lost with the last couple Batman movies. Cillian Murphy was fantastic as Scarecrow. He's definitely an actor to keep your eye on.. I've called that one since Intermission. But I don't like that he's in an upcoming horror flick, that's a career turn off for ya. Either way I think he can make it through. I like how they made Scarecrow (and everybody, i guess) a believable "real" person. The realism thing was just so cool... and that's weird for me to say because I've never really thought of myself as an advocate of the realism-in-cinema movement. But they just made it work. There was enough fantasy and fiction to make it surreal... they just kind of used realist means to get there, which is, in my opinion, the perfect blue-print for a quality movie.

Not a fan of Katie Holmes, but I never have been. She was alright for the part, but her retarded Dawson's Creek acting sets, like that god forsaken half-smile, would show up and totally made me want to punch her. She's just annoying, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was difficult to act with her. Something tells me she doesn't give a lot to work with. But hey, I could be wrong. No big. She didn't ruin the movie at all. She was decent. She just has her moments.

Um.. Michael Caine. Always good. He and Morgan Freeman just seem like they were having so much fun. Honestly they totally upped the value of this film. Their scenes housed some of the best little moments.

So overall I obviously liked it and I could write like a thesis on it if I had the time, but um, in short, it was awesome. Very dark, and Bruce Wayne's cynical sense of humor and witty bantor with Fox and Alfred just rocked. So good. I can't wait to watch this movie again... and again... and again. And I'm way happy that there are more lined up.

It's been thirteen years of fun-loving obsessive fandome and I don't think I'll ever get sick of it. :)
I am, I have been, and I always will be in love with Christian Bale.
And no one can take that away from me.
w00t!

rock.
go see Batman Begins.

I'll play Bobby and you'll play Whitney

My mom left me a voicemail the other day to let me know that Christian Bale was being interviewed on National Public Radio. I missed the call, obviously, and that was sad, but it was so cute how she was so excited for me. My mommy loves me. I ended up listening to the interview from NPR.com. I don't know exactly how or what that man does for me, but he's been doin' it since I was eight years old and let me tell you... I don't see it stopping any time soon. This is one obsession I really don't mind owning up to.

So today is opening day for Batman Begins! Yes, I've been waiting two years for this, but no, I am not going today. Why, you ask? Why?? Because I have tickets to see it at the IMAX theatre in Natick (30 minutes away), and my ride is only available on Friday. But it is going to be SO worth it.

Ok you'll hear more about that after I see it.
Father's Day is coming up and I am going to be giving the ULTIMATE Father's Day present... flying into Chicago! Ok actually I didn't know the 19th was Father's Day when I made the flight reservation, but hey it's a perk, and now I can get away with just baking cookies as a gift. woot. But they are going to be the best damn cookies you have ever laid your eyes on (or tasted). I bake with LOVE, baby. Honestly, it's kind of scary how much love i put into my cooking. LOVE.

I finally got that database entry job, so I can work from home and make loads of dough! Sweet jesus! My dad said that Jamie (my boss/dad's business partner), called him up to express his shock at how quickly I learned the program. Ok, really that just makes me wonder who else is working for this guy. But it's ok, he can think I'm smart. I have no problem with it. I'm pretty sure he's just sucking up to my dad anyway.

My dad: So he thinks you're pretty smart. Keep up that fa-kade, ok?
(we have this dumb joke where we pronouce facade as fa-kade when we want to act overtly intellectual.. because irony is funny, bitch.)

My dad (cont): I told him you were single, but you wouldn't date him because you don't go for guys with dead-end jobs.
(get it? cuz Jamie's my dad's partner YEAH self-depricating twist!... and wait since when does Dad throw around my marital status with business partners? "i need an adult, i need an adult!"...)

Speaking of, I wonder if Jamie is hot. I think he's young. I'll have to ask. That won't be creeptastic or anything.

Anyway so this has been fun, I'm sure. I might be the only one who appreciates my dad's random "slightly cynical with the rubber-chicken punch line" sense of humor, but imagine that multiplied by 4 (yes we had to rent FOUR) houses filled with the extended fam and you get a week of the killian family reunion of fun! oh MAN I'm pumped.

Hide and Seek

OK i've got pictures this time! I know, that rocks.. unless you don't enjoy pictures, then I'm sorry. But I went up to Sunapee, NH last weekend and it was so good. So I thought I'd try to share the good feelings by spreading the goodness that is Lake Sunapee. It feels like the summer is flying by but at the same time hasn't really started yet. It's weird.

Story time!
This house is haunted:

No lie. Our family used to do a yearly reunion at this house, and almost every room in the upstairs is haunted. And the worst part is that it's haunted by a LITTLE GIRL. Creepy! I know. I can't even begin to explain some of the stories. Beds shaking, little girl sightings, the dog barking at this old picture of a little girl that came with the house. Yeah they eventually closeted that picture, and rightly so. But it's uber scary. I do NOT do well with that kind of thing. I'm actually kinda surprised that I have never seen her, because for some reason I always see weird shit like that (hence my intense fear of scary movies.. but that's a different story for a different time), but I've also never slept in any of the bedrooms on the second floor, where all the sightings are. I realize that this sounds like some weird story you'd see on the history channel or something, but really. There are SO MANY stories told by so many members of my family. And it's always the same girl.

This is the bench that Colleen and I were sitting on when we were ATTACKED by a flock of swarming bats a couple years back:

That reminds me, I'm SO PUMPED for Batman Begins. If only Christian Bale had attacked us on that bench. If only..

This is me and the sun making out:

Look at that ass. mmm baby.

This is me thinking "hi mom, I look grubby and sweaty and gross, so tell me again why this picture is a good idea? What? Oh, I'm sorry.. didn't you say sabotage? I thought you said sabotage. oops":

This is my awesome sand shadow. I rock. It's like a dog... or a wolf... or something.

Ok, I admit I could have done better with that one.

The next are just pretty. I really love how green everything is, it's almost unnatural looking it's so vibrant. And the boat is made of recycled stuff! How sweet is that? yeah eco-friendly! And.. I don't know, I just liked the look of these. I figure if I can look at it and feel relaxed, maybe you can too. So feel good, ok? Thanks.

Sorry if this was boring. But sometimes pictures make for an easier read. I'll update again soon with some fun and random stories. Like how there was a fish carcus in the garbage at the gym last week. Yeah you read that right. Dead fish... under the desk... at fitrec. Good times are being had by all.
